5DOF Robot Arm

The 5DOF arm was one of my first 3D printing projects that integrated the use of an Arduino and small electronics. After getting a 3D printer during my first year to push myself to learn CAD and improve my design skills, I decided to challenge myself by creating a servo-controlled arm. Looking back, I now realize how simple the design was, and though it’s not as impressive as I initially thought, it was a valuable learning experience that laid the foundation for more complex projects.

The following images showcase a few preliminary sketches I made of the arm design before finalizing and creating a CAD model for it. These initial drawings helped me visualize the project and refine the design before moving to the 3D modelling stage.

The following videos show the initial design and testing of each component.

The image to the far right displays a custom PCB I created using a perf board, which replaced the breadboard seen in the original video. This custom PCB made it easier to connect and remove components from the Arduino, improving the overall setup and functionality.
